a baseball moment
I love baseball moments.
Tony Gwynn and Cal Ripken, Jr. are both being inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame this summer. Gwynn spent his entire 20-season career with San Diego and Ripken spent his entire 21-season career with Baltimore. Careers like that will never happen again until there is a dramatic change in the business of baseball.
What is even more interesting is that, as part of interleague play, San Diego is hosting Baltimore this week for a three game series. Unfortunately, San Diego pounded Baltimore last night 12 - 6, in the first game under Baltimore's new manager. But, tonight, after the first inning, Baltimore is leading 3 - 0.
Gwynn got to play in two World Series ('84 and '98) but lost both. Ripken played in only one World Series ('83) and beat the Phillies.
